As with all of the knights in this universe, King Knight will have his own play style, with new weapons, armor, and abilities unique to him. This fresh adventure will span 4 new worlds as King Knight attempts to take down the 'Three Kings' who rule over them. Shovel Knight: King of Cards is another prequel, like Plague of Shadows, that has players take on the role of a different, prominent knight from the series in this case, King Knight. Shovel Knight Showdown is local multiplayer only and will be available as a standalone game or free update as part of the Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove. The game will contain many ways to play, including one-on-one duels, 4-player free-for-alls, and cooperative team battle, as well as modes like Gem Clash, Showdown, and a Story Mode.

It was announced last year with a lengthy multiplayer trailer. Shovel Knight Showdown is a fighting game that features both heroes and villains from the series duking it out there will be over 16 playable characters in total.
